Hi there, I'm Willie! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in the Los Angeles area, serving clients in the State of California via Telehealth. I earned my Master's in Social Work from California State University, Dominguez Hills. The primary population I work with is adults 18+ experiencing mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, stress management, communication in relationships, and a variety of life challenges. Using a humanistic approach feels like the best way to strengthen the therapeutic relationship while empowering the client. My approach My therapeutic approach is client-centered therapy combined with didactic techniques because there isn't one cure-all when it comes to people. My focus I have worked with a diverse group of people over the past 10 years in mental health and substance abuse. To name a few, I have supported people dealing with anxiety, depression, psychosis, PTSD, substance abuse, and a myriad of life issues that come up. My communication style I like to think I'm a good listener and nonjudgmental in my interactions with others, whether in a session or with family and friends. Communication is essential to develop trust in the therapeutic relationship. My journey to mental healthcare I come from an underserved community where mental health therapy wasn't a first, second, or third choice for handling behavioral or mental issues. I was led down this path because of life situations and felt the need to help others access services that weren't available to people in my community growing up. I may have had a positive impact in my own life if I had been able to talk to a mental health professional at different periods. My goals for you I believe it's important that the client leads when it comes to goal setting because it empowers them to want the change they are seeking.
