Getting to know Yoany Lopez Hernandez

Hi there, I'm Yoany! Hello, I am Yoany Lopez-Hernandez, LMHC. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. I am passionate about life and here to support my clients through rough times and help them overcome trauma-related issues, focusing on healing and building self-love and self-confidence. My approach My main approach is trauma-focused, and I've been working for many years with people who have been victims of different types of traumatic events. I want my clients to say, “I am healing myself on all levels.” I also love to use mindfulness during therapy sessions because when we focus on the present moment, it creates new experiences that empower us and encourage us to move forward. My focus I've worked with people who have experienced trauma such as sexual, physical, and/or psychological abuse during childhood, placement in foster homes, homelessness, feeling unheard or invalidated, divorce, grieving, and more. I focus on identifying symptoms and helping clients deal with trauma-related issues while learning and practicing healthy and adaptive coping skills. My communication style I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and open-minded environment. I use therapy sessions to help clients open up and talk about uncomfortable experiences that may affect their functionality in different areas of life. Therapy sessions are very safe, private, and confidential. I'm bilingual, with Spanish as my primary language, and I'm willing to provide therapy in both languages. My journey to therapy I worked for five years as a Case Manager in a shelter, which fueled my vocation to help people more personally in dealing with trauma and mental health issues. My goals for you I use a person-centered approach and provide active listening to identify what is truly important for clients to work on and what goals and objectives they want to achieve.
