Psychotherapist
MA
Whether this is your first experience in therapy or another step along your road, it's crucial to find the right therapeutic fit! My goal is to work collaboratively with you to identify places in your life you are looking to change and work with curiosity, compassion, and directness to help you achieve the goals you set for yourself. My approach I draw primarily from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help identify and reframe thoughts and beliefs about yourself and the world that aren't serving you in a positive way anymore. I also incorporate mindfulness and other biofeedback tools to help manage anxiety, to help get out of your head and into your body during distressing moments. My focus I work with adults navigating specific mental health issues (anxiety, trauma, depression, addiction, ADHD, etc) as well as broader life stressors (work, relationships, family, career). We will work together to identify areas of need and come up with a plan for how to address them. My communication style My communication style is clear, direct, and nonjudgmental; it isn't my job to make value jobs or judge your choices. You can expect me to be calm, patient, and attentive. I am also a big believer in the power of humor! My journey to mental healthcare I always knew I wanted to be a therapist! My dad is a therapist, and I've always been drawn to the work of helping individuals become the people they want to be. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland and a Master's Degree in both Psychology & Social Work from Boston University. My goals for you Therapy is meant to be a partnership; you drive the car, but I sit right alongside you with a map and a GPS. Together, we will work to set goals that help achieve the change you're looking for in coming to therapy. The work always stays fluid so that we can both deal with day-to-day issues as well as work on longer-term goals.
