Getting to know Zachary Ruff

Zachary Ruff is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Private practice. I was born and raised in Southern California and enjoy surfing, snowboarding, and baseball! I graduated from the California State University of Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Master in Counseling Psychology. I have completed internships at Didi Hirsch and The Beacon house where I learned strategic interventions to help men and women who struggle with a variety of mental health diagnoses. My approach is humanistic, spiritual, mindfulness, and growth oriented. I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. I hold a supportive, nonjudgmental, caring space so you can fully be yourself. You already have the capacity within to heal. And yet, healing cannot occur in isolation. Therapy can uncouple this aloneness to make way for deep transformation. If you struggle to feel seen, feel alone, want to work through old belief patterns, or are curious about exploring how you relate to the world and why I encourage you to reach out today.

What should a new client know about working with you?

After you book with me I will reach out to you directly ( usually within 2 hours) to confirm the appointment and to send you intake paperwork. PLEASE FILL OUT PAPERWORK WITH IN 8 HOURS OR CANCEL THROUGH ZocDoc.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we begin I will initially assess what is bringing you to therapy and understand the background of the problem at hand. From there we can begin to unravel what keeps the problem going and start to process the feelings and meanings associated with it. Would you like to feel empowered, joyful and at ease with life? Whether you’re going through a transition in your life, having relationship problems, dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, addiction, or looking for a deeper purpose in life, I would be honored to assist you towards well-being and your highest potential. I will hold a sacred space for your pain to be seen, held, listened to, accepted and transformed into your light. I will teach you how to listen and trust your innate wisdom and guidance, I will offer lots of tools for you to become empowered, resourceful and free to consciously create the life you choose. As a holistic psychotherapist, I view each person as a whole with many parts that need to be integrated in order to reach the deepest level of healing and fullest potential. I believe that body – mind – spirit are constantly seeking harmony and balance, and communicate with us through feelings, emotions, sensations, and thoughts. I trust each client’s innate wisdom and allow it to assist in healing and well-being. I see each symptom and presenting issue as an opportunity to grow, heal and realign with True Self.

My husband was a patient of Zach’s and I cannot speak highly enough about Zach and the way he was able to connect with, encourage, support, and challenge my husband. He helped my husband work through many things and was able to do it in a way that felt more like a friendship than a therapist/patient encounter. My husband really appreciated that and was able to open up with him. My marriage, as well as my friendship/connection with my husband are better because of the time my husband spent with Zach :) Thank you, Zach, for having such a therapeutic, positive, meaningful impact on my husband’s life, and therefore mine too. We will be seeing you again in the future!
I spoke with Zach on the phone prior to committing to a session. I immediately felt heard and understood. Some therapists give you textbook advice while Zach tailors his work based on solutions that fit your daily life and realistic outcomes based on the work he thinks you’ll put in to maintain a positive mindset. If you’re looking for genuine therapy - look no further
