Aimee Culler, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Aimee! I have over 37 years of experience working with all ages in a variety of settings. I have worked with children, teens, and adults in inpatient and outpatient settings, virtual, residential, group homes, jails, and schools. I have extensive experience in the field of addictions, as well as with depression, bipolar, anxiety, grief, trauma, ADHD, OCD, anger, and domestic violence. I like variety, and I'm proud of you for seeking assistance. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Winthrop University, which has provided a strong foundation for my clinical practice. My approach I believe the best approach is utilizing evidence-based practices-therapies that have been researched, pre-tested, and post-tested and shown to be effective. I provide education and then encourage practicing these approaches in everyday life. Examples include motivational interviewing, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, solution-focused, reality therapy, and trauma-focused therapies. My focus I enjoy working with all ages and maintaining a diverse caseload. While I have long specialized in addiction treatment, I also have extensive experience with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, grief, ADHD, OCD, anger, and domestic violence. I focus on each client's unique thought-processing style and explain ideas in ways they understand best. My communication style I am casual but direct. Therapy can be challenging, so I strive to make the experience light and enjoyable. I love using games or hands-on approaches to explain concepts in ways that are easy to understand and apply. I listen carefully and provide reflective feedback and simple, concise explanations. I encourage accountability, foster a nonjudgmental environment, and help clients challenge negative thoughts.
