Getting to know Alejandra Landavazo

Hi there, I'm Alejandra! Alejandra Landavazo, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with a Master?s in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. My approach to therapy is a collaborative one. I see clients as the agents of change in their own lives and take a supportive role in developing and formulating a vision of where clients see themselves. My approach My approach to providing therapy and support to clients is eclectic. I recognize that therapy is not a "one size fits all," so I utilize various supports from multiple modalities and theoretical approaches. The most common approaches I am comfortable using range from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Behavioral Therapy, to Polyvagal Therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy. I collaborate with clients in developing and establishing goals, understanding that plans might fail but people don?t. Empathy and compassion are the main themes I bring to sessions, supporting clients in learning these skills. My focus I enjoy working with adult women, particularly from Hispanic or Latinx communities affected by generational trauma and first-generation immigration. Some of the conditions I am most comfortable treating include anxiety, depression, trauma-induced conditions, and stressors related to work, relationships, or family. I take pride in empowering clients to develop self-advocacy skills. My communication style My communication style is calm and engaging. I invite clients into an atmosphere of calmness and safety where they feel understood and accepted no matter what is shared in the therapy room. I engage in non-judgmental listening and provide empathic communication during interactions with clients. My goals for you I like to collaborate with clients in determining their motives for initiating therapy. I support clients in developing and formulating short-term and long-term goals during our work together. I initiate goal discussions at intake and expand on them during future therapy sessions.
