Alison Bunasawa, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Alison! Welcome! I'm Alison, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Southern California. I have been in private practice for over 10 years, working with clients of all ages and levels of functioning. For me, therapy is a collaborative effort, which is why I pride myself on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship while meeting clients exactly where they're at. Using a Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and client-centered approach along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we'll work as a team to make the therapy process as supportive and healing as possible. My approach My approach to therapy does not involve a ?one size fits all? mentality. I incorporate various modalities tailored to fit each client's unique needs, including Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Modification, and Family Systems. My focus I typically work with adolescents and adults but also specialize in children and families when seeing in-person clients in my practice. I most commonly treat those presenting with anxiety, depression, ADHD, major life transitions, postpartum challenges, parent/child or other relationship dynamics, boundaries, and self-advocacy. My communication style My communication style is calm and informal. I want all my clients to feel comfortable opening up and communicating their needs in session. I tend to confront life's challenges with a bit of humor and sarcasm while still addressing the tough stuff. This is a judgment-free zone! My goals for you I approach goal setting by meeting clients where they're at. This means going at your pace but also knowing when to push through avoidance to meet therapy goals. Building trust and rapport is paramount to collaboratively setting, tracking, and achieving your therapy goals.
