Hi there, I'm Amanda! Hi, I am Amanda Johnson, LCSW (101426). I approach therapy from a client-centered lens. It's important to me that my clients feel safe, heard, and have input in their treatment. I use a Strength-Based approach along with various therapeutic modalities to work with many DSM-5 diagnoses. Depression, anxiety, attachment, personality disorder, bipolar, and substance abuse are some of the disorders I have most frequently worked with. My approach My approach to therapy varies by client. I always use a Strength-Based model because I believe we all have strength within us to guide us through tough times. I also believe in a holistic approach—looking at nutrition, exercise, family history, friends, employment, etc.—to understand the entire picture of someone's mental health. It is all connected. My focus Populations I have served include families involved with CPS, domestic violence survivors, teens released from psychiatric care, and pre-teens. I have provided couples counseling and support to adults managing their mental health while their kids are in treatment. I am comfortable treating a wide range of diagnoses including depression, anxiety, attachment disorder, substance abuse, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and adjustment disorder. I am also well versed in treating co-occurring disorders and grief support. My communication style It's important to me that my clients feel safe in our sessions. Ensuring comfort and safety is vital, especially in telehealth. I adjust my communication style to clients’ needs, often engaging in dialogue rather than being mostly quiet. This helps many clients feel more comfortable having a conversation versus talking to a mostly quiet person for an hour. I earned my Master’s in Social Work and Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Chico, which have provided me with a strong foundation to support my clinical work.
