Amy Martinez, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Amy! My name is Amy Martinez, LMFT, and I have been doing therapy for 10+ years. I am passionate about helping foster change and growth in individuals and relationships. I enjoy working with all ages but have always gravitated toward teenagers who are expressing suicidal ideation, cutting behaviors, or have a history of trauma. I also have a heart for seeing families experience healing in their relationships and in their homes. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support my clients effectively. My approach I am trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and tend to lean on these approaches as I’m providing therapy. I also gravitate toward Solution-Focused Therapy. My focus What I have the most experience in is working with teens and children dealing with depression, anxiety, and ADHD. For many years, I have provided therapy to high-risk clients who were at risk of losing school placement and have worked with many teens and kids who exhibited high-risk behaviors such as suicidal ideation or cutting. With this population, I also did a lot of work with parents and family sessions. My communication style My communication style is warm and calm while also being direct when needed. I am big on creating a safe, non-judgmental environment. I invite my clients to build trust in order to share things that may carry a lot of weight or shame. My approach is loving and gentle while walking clients through the therapy process. It’s important for me to meet individuals and families where they are. My goals for you I approach goal setting collaboratively with clients. Clients are ultimately the experts in their own lives and will be the best at identifying goals and needs for themselves and their families, with some support.
