Andrew Spaulding, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My experience as a therapist includes having worked as a child and family therapist at Contra Costa County Children's Mental Health for 10 years, and in 2004, I cofounded Coyote Coast Youth and Family Therapist. I have also worked in various clinical and leadership roles in the Family Law Mediation and Counselling sector, as well as in private practice-type settings such as Relationships Australia in Sydney. I am excited to be joining the Rula team and look forward to meeting with you to see if we are a good fit given your emotional and relational needs, goals, and preferences. My specialty areas include trauma treatment, grief and loss, recovering from abuse, professional and relationship coaching, and more generally, working with children, youths, and parents. My approach I believe it is usually most helpful for us to agree on a set of collaborative goals and to keep checking in and revising these goals as we progress with one another. I also think it's important that we regularly check in on our relationship as client-therapist, but otherwise, I tend to be led by what you bring to each session and by what you would like to get out of each session. I am trained in a wide variety of counselling techniques and enjoy being transparent when using these skills to help demystify and clarify the therapy process. My focus I enjoy working with people from all walks of life who are open to exploring ways to feel better about themselves, their relationships, and any other issue or challenge they happen to be facing. My communication style My communication style is warm, relaxed, and sometimes playful. I also have a lot of experience working with hurt and trauma, and am especially gentle in my approach, and yet when asked, I am generally happy to be direct with my impressions and opinions.
