Getting to know Ankita Mohanty

Hi there, I'm Ankita! My name is Ankita Mohanty (Ahn-KEE-tha mo-HAHN-thee), LCSW, CA License #96625. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley. I approach therapy as a sacred process of building trust and safety by slowing down, tending to vulnerability, and communicating truth. My approach I provide therapy with full presence to what arises. I consider imagination, play, poetry/the arts, the natural world, unseen realms, and ritual/ceremony as allies in the process. I respect the body as a source of wisdom and accompany you on the journey of befriending yours. You can expect me to ask, “What does that [story, thought, or emotion] feel like in your body?” or “What [feelings and sensations] are you noticing right now?” My focus My approach suits people with marginalized identities, first-generation American/immigrant parents, artists/creatives, empaths, highly sensitive or emotionally intense people, and spiritual seekers. I enjoy supporting those dedicated to self-discovery and longing to inhabit their bodies as safe and as home. My communication style I seek to co-create an environment of depth, care, and respect that honors and excavates your wisdom, knowing, and power. Judgment, shame, anxiety, insecurity, fear, anger, grief, and other difficult feelings are natural and welcomed as part of therapy. Working with me can feel intimate, tender, thought-provoking, non-linear, and expansive. My journey to therapy My first therapist at 19 offered me a container for my story and pain unlike any I had known. Deeply moved, I began the long inquiry into healing and remain humbled by the mystery of the human condition. I meet my clients as I strive to meet myself—with humor, kindness, patience, and gratitude for the time our paths cross and what we learn from one another.
