“I have recommended April to friends. April’s approach to helping others is professional and caring, but honest and not patronizing. Her ability to understand her client and their needs is exactly what I needed. She doesn’t just tell me what I want to hear but instead gives me what I need to hear. It’s refreshing to have help that isn’t sugarcoated textbook information - it is actually a direct response to what I’m going through. April and I have covered some deep pain and serious conflict, and while it is hard to do, I trust that I am in good hands with her.”

Getting to know April Gibson

Hi, I'm April Gibson, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University. I genuinely care for my clients and work diligently to help them manage, cope, and identify tools they can use immediately, ultimately guiding them to find the answers they seek. My approach My philosophy is that individuals already have the skills to create change in their lives and sometimes need help to identify and develop those skills. My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, collaborative, and compassionate. It incorporates a combination of Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. My focus I have experience working with interpersonal and problematic relationships, family conflict, depression, anxiety and panic disorders, mood disorders, substance dependency and abuse, trauma, life transitions, and grief and loss. My communication style During sessions, I encourage clients to develop a vision of their desired future and offer support as they determine what's needed to achieve that vision successfully. My goals for you I use a collaborative approach to goal setting, assist clients in identifying their strengths and available resources, explore exceptions, and encourage setting goals that are both reasonable and achievable.
