Hi there, I'm Aremy! Hey, nice to meet you! I am Aremy Gomez—a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Oakland, CA, and a first-generation Mexican-American Latina. I have found great success in connecting with and supporting clients through a trauma-informed and client-centered approach. I am committed to providing affirming care and working collaboratively to build resilience. My approach I utilize a combination of approaches because therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I emphasize trauma-informed care and use therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-centered therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My focus I support clients managing depression, general anxiety, trauma, cultural stressors, and interpersonal challenges. I provide culturally responsive care, particularly for marginalized and intersectional identities. I communicate and treat in a compassionate, validating, and sometimes humorous manner because I care that this space feels safe for you to be yourself. My journey to mental healthcare It's a funny story. As a millennial, I had access to reality TV, including Celebrity Rehab on VH1. I was inspired by the mental health and substance abuse professionals featured there. During this time, a close friend struggled with teen-onset psychosis and substance abuse. I was heartbroken and angry to see them expelled from school due to mental health stigma and frequently in and out of hospitals and rehabs. I decided to pursue Psychology at UC Santa Cruz, where I learned about Clinical Social Work and Community Mental Health. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California, which prepared me to provide compassionate, culturally responsive care.
