Psychotherapist
CO
Arlene Holt, LPC. I believe I bring warmth to the counseling session. I build trust through nonjudgmental listening. While this is my nature, I can also be direct with a client and share what I am seeing in them if I believe it is necessary to help them move forward in their journey for change. My approach I follow Rogerian theory, which can also be called narrative, allowing the client to lead the direction of the session. I am also trained in EMDR, which has been proven to relieve the stress associated with traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences. My focus My clients typically seek counseling due to symptoms of anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and communication challenges. I use DBT and EMDR when it would be helpful. My communication style Comforting, inviting, easygoing, calming, and often filled with laughter. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist later in life after a career in the medical field and the financial field. My life experience has been very helpful in understanding my clients. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I made the decision to be a therapist because my coworkers kept telling me I would be good at it. I love hearing people’s stories and find it very rewarding to see the growth in my clients. My goals for you I realize it can add stress to a client’s life to set goals that might be too difficult, so I allow them to discover goals that seem important to them. My first session with you After the first few minutes of introduction, I have the client tell me what brought them to therapy. If it is difficult for them to start, I interject questions with the idea of helping them.
