Arley Smith, LCMHC

Psychotherapist
NC
I’m a mom of three with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, and I’m passionate about wellness and holistic care. I enjoy spending time with my children, walking, and exploring the city, and I believe that self-care and a strong support system are essential to well-being. I use CBT as my primary approach and view counseling as a journey with no straight path—my philosophy is that healing is not about rushing to the destination, but about learning, growing, and finding strength along the way. My approach My approach to care is holistic and collaborative, combining CBT with a focus on wellness, self-care, and balance. I believe counseling is a journey with no straight path, and I work alongside clients to help them discover their strengths and build resilience. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where healing and growth can naturally unfold. My focus My ideal client is someone navigating life transitions, stress, anxiety, or depression who is motivated to actively participate in the therapeutic process. I take a collaborative and holistic approach, using CBT to help challenge unhelpful thought patterns, or what I call ‘stinking thinking,’ and uncover irrational beliefs that may be holding them back. Together, we explore the connection between past experiences, including childhood trauma, and current stressors in order to promote healing and deeper self-understanding. I provide clients with practical tools such as homework, worksheets, affirmations, and coping strategies to apply outside of sessions, reinforcing what we do in therapy. I encourage measurable progress and celebrate small wins along the way, believing that lasting change comes from both insight and consistent action. My role is to walk alongside clients on their journey, offering support, structure, and encouragement as they build resilience and create healthier ways of thinking and living
