Getting to know Ashley Cox

Hi! Welcome! My name is Ashley, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in sunny San Diego, CA. I earned my Master's in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and my Bachelor's degree from San Diego State University. I have now been a young adult therapist for a decade, and I still love working with young people and families every day. I primarily work with young adult women coping with anxiety, high-performing stress, depression, low self-esteem, codependency, and relational conflict. I take a client-centered approach and work collaboratively with the client and/or family to improve mood, communication, boundaries, and self-confidence. Together, we explore the root causes and behaviors behind anxiety, depression, low motivation, conflict, and other challenges. I take the lead from you and focus on your goals. We integrate my heart and education to support effective skills and strategies that build resilience and confidence. I can also incorporate a faith-based lens into the work at your pace. I work with clients aged 18-29, primarily females and their families, to provide a comprehensive path toward healing. I also believe in the power of laughter, authentic relationships, and making safety a priority. My approach and belief are that therapy should be vibrant, trusted, authentic, and safe. I hope we will be able to work together so you can walk into a more vibrant you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Client can expect to have an authentic and caring experience. We meet together and begin to explore the path and challenges that led to my "door". I offer the sense of a safe and accepting space for you or your young person to find relief. You can breath and share the hard stuff. Sometimes there are tears and other times, big wins! We do them all together. The sessions are grounded in in practical skills and methods that result in change and movement toward better days and more joyful state. I sometimes give homework or go through a book together to enhance the tools. I love to see clients that can work through hard moments, communicate, set boundaries, and love their life again.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
