Ashley Stacy, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hello, my name is Ashley Stacy, and I am an LMFT and a CODA-child of deaf adults. I am fluent in American Sign Language, which is one of the reasons I became a therapist: to provide direct services to those who identify as deaf and hard of hearing. I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including secondary trauma, intimate partner violence, and family violence. I also support those dealing with anxiety, depression, and life transitions such as starting a new career, becoming a parent, or caregiving for aging parents. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College. My approach is client-centered, which means I believe the person I am working with in therapy is the expert on their own life and needs unbiased, non-judgmental feedback and support. I come from an empowerment model and feminist theory, working as a sounding board with assertive feedback and helpful tools for the people I support in the therapeutic space. I thrive in working from a trauma-informed approach with people who have experienced sexual violence, domestic violence, and witnessing family violence. It is important to meet each person where they are in therapy and to pace the work according to what they are ready to explore and disclose. I view therapy as a collaborative effort. I also work with individuals experiencing social and generalized anxiety, depression, and life transitions. My communication style honors the choice someone makes to engage in therapy and trust me with their vulnerable moments. I use gentle humor, open-mindedness, and unconditional positive support in a way that avoids toxic positivity, truly meeting each person where they are and when they are ready to dive into therapy. My journey to mental healthcare is deeply connected to being a CODA and fluent in American Sign Language, which shapes my commitment to serving the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
