Hi there, I'm Beatriz!
My name is Beatriz Velasquez, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Southern California, working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I'm a bilingual (English and Spanish) therapist with many years of mental health experience providing services to diverse populations and ethnic groups. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Counseling from California State University, Fullerton.
My approach
I take a holistic approach to therapy. Every client needs something different, and I work to provide that along the way. Generally, I utilize a mindfulness approach incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques. I also apply a Cognitive Behavioral lens to help clients gain deeper insight and learn strategies to better manage emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that interfere with overall functioning and well-being.
My focus
I work with young adults, children, and families on issues related to transitions, depression, anxiety, with a specialization in trauma and perinatal mental health. I provide treatment that is strength-based and trauma-informed. I have specialized training related to trauma, early childhood mental health, and hold a certification in maternal/perinatal mental health (PMH-C).
My communication style
I am passionate about empowering clients and working together to build a safe, trusting, and empathetic environment. My hope is that each client I work with feels understood, validated, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.

Beatriz is very attentive when you are speaking with her. She's kind and always has great suggestions when you need them. I always look forward to my sessions with her because I know that if I am having a hard time with anything, she always helps me out, whether if it's to find a solution or to simply be calm about the situation. I've had other therapists before but Beatriz has been the best I have ever had.
