Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Bethanie! Life is hard, but these days, it feels even harder. It is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed to the point of feeling stuck. This can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, guilt, and even hopelessness. My hope is to help you get unstuck, connect to yourself, and feel excited about your life. My focus I support those struggling with a variety of issues such as decision making, critical thoughts about oneself, social anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, and chronic illness. I hope to support you in understanding yourself and your needs better. Hopefully, you leave feeling better and having more self acceptance. My approach Every person is different and I believe in tailoring therapy to your needs. I incorporate a variety of modalities like mindfulness, somatic work, CBT, ACT, self-compassion, and trauma processing. We'll talk about what has worked and doesn't work for you, and figure out what works best for you. My communication style I am easy going and down to earth. Clients have said working with me is like talking to a friend. My approach is more inquisitive and reflective rather than directive and structured. However, I will still be honest and provide accountability to support you in working towards you therapy goals. My journey to mental healthcare It took me a long time to realize I wanted to be a therapist. Even though I had been in therapy myself and found it helpful, it was until working with adults with developmental disabilities that I realized what I wanted to do. I already loved listening and supporting others. It made sense to get trained to be more effective in helping others. My goals for you I support clients through reaching their goals by naming the problem together at the beginning of therapy. We'll decided together what is most important for you to work on. Since life happens, I will always check in to see if we need to make any adjustments as we work together.
