Getting to know Blake Kerr

Hi there, I'm Blake! Over human history, people have mostly lived in close-knit communities. This has eroded with advances in transportation and technology. Most people have lost much of the social support our forebearers enjoyed. Mental Health Professionals have taken on this role in their respective communities and are an excellent resource for you to realize your strengths and improve your well-being. When your car breaks down, you take it to a mechanic. When your tooth hurts, you see a dentist. When your mental health can use a “tune-up,” see a Mental Health Professional! My approach Having had various training in many different therapies, I am well versed in tailoring a plan to a patient, rather than tailoring a patient to a plan. I earned my Master's in Social Work from California State University, Fresno, which has provided me with a strong foundation to support my clients effectively. My focus My "ideal client" would be a patient who is ready to be honest about what motivates their decision-making process. My communication style Depends entirely on who the patient is. My style for a 15-year-old Asian female would be different than that of a 70-year-old Hispanic male. My journey to therapy Being a Social Worker has been something I have been doing my whole life. I made it my profession in 2004 and have had no regrets in helping people reach their full potential or resolve distressful situations. My goals for you Successful care would be when the patient feels that they have reached "maximum benefit" from our therapeutic alliance. My first session with you I like to start out with what I call "housekeeping" information. Those are the policies and procedures used by Path and myself. I also make sure that the patient understands the limits of confidentiality. Once that is established, I then conduct a thorough initial assessment to better understand how the patient has arrived at this stage of their life.
