Getting to know Brenda Curtis

Brenda Curtis, LMFT and EMDR certified, holds a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Southern California Seminary. I approach the individual as a whole, believing that the client knows themselves best. I am compassionate, easy to talk to, and have a great sense of humor. My practice includes individuals from all walks of life, ethnicities, and cultures. I often focus on first responders, law enforcement, RNs, and those who have experienced trauma. My approach My therapeutic approach is eclectic. I draw from CBT, DBT, ACT, Gestalt, Person-Centered, and EMDR therapies. My focus I work with a wide variety of individuals, including those with PTSD and trauma-related injuries, law enforcement, first responders, doctors, nurses, addiction (12-step recovery), anxiety, and depression. My communication style I am open to my clients and what each individual brings into the therapy room on any given day. I strive to provide an open yet safe environment for exploring thoughts, feelings, and learning how to be in the body. Therapeutic relationships are intense, fun, and forward-moving. My journey to therapy I am passionate about helping others and have done so in both of my careers in health care. Helping individuals discover themselves, grow, and move forward is amazing to watch, and I am honored to be part of their journey. My goals for you The client and therapist are actively engaged in the goal-setting process. Collaboratively setting attainable goals that are useful and promote positive, forward movement is essential. My first session with you The first several sessions are a time to get to know each individual in the therapy room. There are, of course, intake questions, review of policies and procedures, and state-mandated items to cover. This is also a time for the client to ask questions and begin building rapport for a healing and fruitful journey.
