Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Cara Stearns Entz. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. In my 29 years as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and children facing various life struggles. My approach My areas of practice include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Structural Family Therapy—viewing the family as a dynamic system seeking stability—couples therapy based on John Gottman’s theory, and parent training focusing on parental beliefs to improve the parent-child relationship through effective strategies. My approach is collaborative and centered on free will and the search for meaning. I use behavioral strategies, including CBT, to address thoughts causing anxiety and depression. Mindfulness is a powerful strategy to calm the mind and body and create openness to new possibilities. My focus I typically provide therapy via telehealth for individuals, families, couples, and teens. In-person sessions are best for children dealing with anxiety, depression, and behavior concerns. My approach is tailored to each client. Sessions are goal-oriented so we can track progress and add new goals as needed. These goals are client-based and developed collaboratively. My communication style My communication style is warm, attentive, and collaborative. I am open to feedback at any time and believe the process is two-way communication. I want clients to feel comfortable and safe, providing an enhanced environment for growth and change. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been interested in psychology. Early in my college education at UCLA, I had the opportunity to work directly with children with autism and their families. I was fortunate to have that experience.
