“I came to Marie to discuss fear and depression over being unemployed. We ended up working on so many other things below the surface that have held me back in life. She is truly a wonderful, insightful, smart, empathetic and caring therapist. I felt comfortable with her right away, and credit her, and hard work, with the immense growth I've experienced over the year. I am grateful to have found Marie and highly recommend her for therapy!”

Getting to know Carol Marie Barrett

Hi there, I'm Carol Marie ! Many of us carry wounds that quietly shape how we navigate life. I support individuals in exploring how their past and present experiences shape the way they move through the world. By bringing mindful attention to what arises in the moment, therapy becomes a space to better understand yourself, your relationships, and your path forward. You don’t have to do this alone, and I welcome you to reach out when the time feels right. My approach My work is relational and attachment-focused, paying close attention to the patterns that show up in your relationships, including the one between us. I also believe we each carry different parts of ourselves: some that protect, some that hold pain, and others that long for growth. In therapy, I invite curiosity and compassion toward both your inner world and your relational patterns, so you can begin to understand yourself in new ways and feel more whole. Because every person’s needs are unique, I adapt my approach to meet you where you are. Sometimes that means slowing down and offering a nurturing space for reflection; other times it means gently challenging old beliefs so new ways of being can emerge. Together, we’ll make sense of past experiences while also creating more clarity, resilience, and connection in the present. My focus I often work with individuals navigating the pain of difficult or traumatic relationships, major life changes, heartbreak, or a sense of hopelessness. Many of my clients also experience anxiety, depression, or the weight of unresolved grief that makes life feel overwhelming. Some are seeking healthier connections, while others want to rebuild trust in themselves or find meaning after painful experiences. In our work together, we’ll create space for both your struggles and your resilience. Therapy can help you better understand how past wounds shape the present, uncover meaning in your experiences, and open the possibility of new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Marie is a great therapist. She is trauma informed and compassionate. I found that we made progress through almost every session. Marie definitely deserves a recommendation.
I loved working with Marie! She was an excellent provider who met me exactly where I needed and when I was starting to wonder if I could trust anyone. Besides a listening ear and an extremely compassionate approach, she taught me about grieving in a way I didn’t know I needed. She was amazing. I’m sad that she ended her contract with RULA but if she came back, I would absolutely love to work with her again!
Best therapist ever! After a not so great therapy experience, finding Marie was exactly what I needed. She has a way of making you feel genuinely safe without ever making you feel judged. She asks questions that have helped me understand myself in ways I never had before. I’ve worked with other therapists before, and there’s something different about working with Marie and I’m incredibly grateful I found her
