Caryn Canales, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. My approach My approach is eclectic and collaborative. What works for one person may not work for another. So I want to find what works best for you. My focus I work with adult individuals on a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, family/work dynamics, stages of life, chronic illness, and grief. I have experience working with educators, first-generation American/immigrant parents and children, LGBTQIA+ clients, military veterans, first responders, issues of racial justice, recovery/12-step-friendly approaches, and single-parent families. My communication style I’m going to listen to you with compassion and insight - and teach you how to do that for yourself. The outcome can be truly transformative. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been fascinated by what motivates us all as human beings. My training, experience, and education have honed this natural inclination into therapeutic skills that help my clients realize their potential. My goals for you Our initial goal will be to define your primary issues. Then we’ll work together to resolve them with improved communication skills and problem-solving techniques. Finally, we’ll review your progress and develop strategies to maintain your improvement. My first session with you Our first session will be an opportunity for you to talk about your thoughts and feelings, and what you want to get out of our work together. It’s a chance to start to get to know each other, and see if we might be a good therapeutic “fit.”
