Getting to know Catherine Margetiak

First of all, I want to acknowledge the courage it took for you to reach out for help. Know that I will walk alongside you and empower you to overcome life's challenges. It would be a privilege to be part of your journey to wellness and recovery. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida and am a licensed therapist in the states of California and Hawaii. I also speak Tagalog fluently. My diverse professional and personal background has equipped me to provide a holistic and client-centered approach to treatment. I have provided therapy and case management services to adults, including veterans with substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and severe persistent mental illness. Currently, I work as a school-based counselor helping children and teens develop adaptive coping strategies for anxiety, depression, self-esteem, anger, and adjustment disorders.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As your therapist, I want you to know that I am here to offer you a safe and non-judgemental space as you share your struggles. We will collaborate on establishing meaningful treatment goals and finding appropriate interventions to improve your mental health. Typically, a session includes: mood check-in, review of the previous session, exploration of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and assignment of homework. I will obtain feedback from you to determine the efficacy of agreed-upon interventions and ensure that you are making progress towards your goals.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
