I work mostly with adults and specialize in many areas of stress-related issues, including anxiety, trauma and PTSD, grief, burnout, infidelity, and aging. I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Humanistic approaches to help clients develop skills that lead to success and relief. I have a foundational belief in each person's core goodness. Using kindness and compassion, I soften the external defenses we each adopt when feeling threatened—whether by sadness, anxiety, loneliness, self-imposed expectations, or the harsh inner voice of judgment. One of my strongest motivations in this work is to help clients uncover or discover who they are at their core—that person they were born to be before the weight of others’ opinions or demands was layered over them. I also strongly believe that everyone needs someone to truly hear them as they attempt to recognize, verbalize, and honor their needs—without judgment, dismissal, or diminishment. I have a lifelong curiosity about human behavior and the brain, including a personal search for explanations and reasons to change my own behaviors. My work has focused on individuals facing significant challenges who may need help finding more useful, effective, and reaffirming choices. This includes working with reactive athletes struggling with anger, male perpetrators of domestic violence, individuals suffering the deep hurt of betrayal in infidelity, and at-risk teens seeking belonging and confidence in who they are. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling and Applied Psychology from National University, which has deeply informed my approach and commitment to this work.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My background in both psychology and sports psychology has always guided me more in the direction of coach than therapist, in other words, building on a person's strengths to encourage the most lasting and powerfully effective new behaviors through a warm and collaborative style. Some of my strongest skills include a boundless curiosity in individual differences and similarities, a keen sense of and deep respect for a client's talents, strengths and beauty gained through observation and conversation, a broad range of experience in various areas of life, a lifetime connection to the power inherent in each human being to adapt, to absorb, to change and to thrive, and a humbleness in seeking all relevant information as adjunct to my repertoire of knowledge in any area needed by my client.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
