Getting to know Cheryl Wharton

Hi there, I'm Cheryl! Hello! :) While I could boast about my academic achievements and licenses, none of that will matter in the long run What truly matters is “Results.” I know what it takes to promote real change I create a place for individuals to talk about their experiences and feel heard—to know that I see you and that your story and your life matter I’ve been impacting lives for 30 years and know what it takes to transform lives and relationships I’m the therapist that therapists go to for positive Results My approach You will enjoy a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment filled with understanding and respect I use a holistic approach incorporating all aspects of the individual—psychological, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual My focus An “ideal client” is any person who desires Real Change, beginning today, in their life and circumstance Transformation doesn’t have to be a long process We identify where you’re at, where you want to go, and the path to get you there My communication style My demeanor and style are direct, wrapped in a sensitive, loving, caring, soft-spoken flow I am a non-arrogant, calm person I listen closely as you share your pain, desires, and goals I take seriously your trust in me and your journey to wholeness My journey to therapy I have had a passion for helping people since I was very young I know what it’s like to want more than what life has served you, but where does one go to “really” get the help that will get Results? I pursued my master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy at California Lutheran University and am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist I experienced firsthand that the number of degrees one has does not make the difference in effective therapy Just like small keys open big doors, I deliver keys that impact change in your life, resulting in greater peace and relationships My goals for you It is often not what happens in life but how one deals with it.

Cheryl is kind, understanding, and honest. Her invaluable support and feedback during our sessions together was instrumental for my personal growth in my relationship. I am a better person with Cheryl’s continuous support. She is direct and sincere, genuinely caring about me and the things I’ve shared with her. Having a professional person who can provide objective and unbiased advice during difficult times in your personal life is so helpful. Thanks Cheryl for everything so far!
Cheryl is a great listener and with her years of experience provides valuable feedback and ways to improve ones actions with what the person is going through.
I chose Cheryl because her style looks to the future, while living fully today and building off the past. She lets me pour out - blabber - my thoughts and feelings, while directing me to discover what I want to accomplish and how I'll choose to go there. I feel spent after each session, yet animated and recharged. I started out sharing with a stranger, and our connection grows stronger as time passes. I'm in this for the long haul, having fortuitously selected the right therapist for me :-)
Cheryl is an amazing therapist. She is kind and effective. I always feel like her support and advice help me navigate hard times. She is insightful and direct. Best therapist ever!
I highly recommend Cheryl as a counselor. She is wonderful at listening, identifying individual needs, and providing sound advice and clear direction on the steps needed to address any difficulties you may be facing. As a Christian, it was important to me to find a counselor who provides direction and advice aligned with Biblical teachings.
I found Cheryl in a time in my life where I needed some validation and support which is exactly what I got. Cheryl offered me support with navigating a difficult time in my marriage by not only using understanding, empathy and patience but also helping me challenge my thoughts and behaviors in ways that were productive. I feel like two things must be present in a productive therapeutic relationship: genuine understanding and constructive confrontation which Cheryl does very well.
Cheryl makes me feel heard and seen and I am so glad we get to work together to improve my mental health. She has been a wonderful therapist.
We are doing couples therapy, and we both really like Cheryl. She is thoughtful and kind, and helps us see each other's point of view. Cheryl typically gives us actionable things to work on and improve on, between our meetings.
Cheryl is the BEST!!!! She is very personable, professional, understanding, and caring. I had about 50 sessions with her and she was never judgemental. Always tried to offer exercises and strategies to help me cope. I got lucky that she was the person assigned to me. Should've bought my lottery ticket that day!!!

Cheryl is an absolutely wonderful therapist! She has been a huge part of my life, helping me to cope during a recent cancer diagnosis, surgery and recovery. She also became my couple's therapist, later, with my wife joining in. Her perspective, experience and communication were valuable during many months of working through different issues with my spouse. Her personality and demeanor provided an experience which I looked forward to having in our appointments. Cheryl is a diamond!
