Getting to know Chong Yang

Hi there, I'm Chong! Hello, my name is Chong Yang, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been providing therapy since 2003. I am a huge believer that every individual has strengths and abilities to overcome life challenges. I have broad experience providing mental health services in non-profit organizations, County Behavioral Health, and education. For the last 10 years, I have been working specifically with adolescents who have educational-related mental health concerns. It's important in my practice to build strong working relationships that support and enhance therapeutic progress. My approach The theoretical approach of my work is Solution Focused Therapy. I like to stay focused on what is important to my clients. This approach targets what is most pressing at the time and helps clients find successes they can build on. Instead of focusing on the problem, clients look at what can make their life better. I assist individuals in finding ways to see how their life would be different without the problem or how they would be different without it. I empower individuals by exploring possibilities and realistic goals. My focus I have worked with a range of clients dealing with various emotional health challenges. I have spent most of my time in practice with adolescents in school settings. I am comfortable working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, grief, social skills challenges, decision-making difficulties, and gender identity issues. My focus in therapy is to build strong, positive working relationships with my clients. I believe therapy is about trust and collaborating with clients to identify their goals. My role is to encourage and empower clients to set realistic goals and take action to achieve them. My communication style Clients will experience a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment with me. I am committed to meeting my clients where they are. I want to learn from my clients what they are looking for.

Chong has been great and engaged with me in a direct, supportive and intuitive manner.
He is the best!! He understands me and he guides me to the right direction all the time and relationship with my wife and kids has been great. I'm so grateful to meet Chong. :-)
I was hesitant on therapy and what it could provide for me. But after my first session with Chong, his insight and questions led me to reflect and perceive things in a way I haven’t before. Rather than simply telling me why or what I am doing wrong, he guided me to see another angle that I would not have on my own. He is great, highly recommended.
Chong is amazing. He listens extremely well and empathizes with your situation and gives the best advice to help you achieve a better sense of self.
Chong has helped me immensely and I am very grateful for his support. He has years of experience working with all kinds of different people and really takes the time to understand your situation. I highly recommend him.
Chong is a great reflective listener. I appreciate that he seems to genuinely care about my mental health AND provides active suggestions as to how I can improve my mental health by providing coping strategies, ideas on how to improve my communication, and relationships. We are able to pick up where we left off with ease AND I feel like we make the most of our sessions together. He also helps me appreciate and celebrate my wins, which helps me leave with a feeling of accomplishment.
I felt supported and he helped me to come up with good actions items that lead to changes and improvements in my relationship. Appreciated it!
I started because I'm dealing with an elderly mom and my partner has Alzheimer's. I'm greiving the loss of who they were and the relationships I'm missing. Also, my mom is in skilled nursing and very unhappy...and dragging me down. Therapy has been very helpful. I feel heard and understood. I have received excellent advise to help me move forward.
