I have experience across a broad range of topics but focus on helping clients through anxiety, depression, and the unique challenges of giftedness. I have worked with a diverse group of people?across races, religions, sexual orientations, economic levels, and cultures?gaining experience with many different life issues. My approach Human beings are unique and complex. My therapy approach is based on empathic tailoring for each client. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as my overall framework but also incorporate Socratic Dialogue, Dialectical Behavioral techniques, and interventions focusing on the mind/body connection. My focus I have a strong understanding of clients coping with anxiety, depression, women?s issues, life transitions, school stressors, giftedness, and trauma. I am also expanding my knowledge of LGBTQIA issues. My communication style My communication style shifts with the client's needs. Sometimes communication is direct; other times, counseling is guided with levity. I personalize counseling based on learning, understanding, and adapting to each unique situation. A key strength is my ability to connect with clients through empathy and, when appropriate, a little humor. My journey to mental healthcare My interest in psychology began while tutoring adolescent offenders in college. In this environment, I learned to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for young people to share about themselves. I was inspired by how that safe space could make a difference in someone?s life.
