Psychotherapist
CA
Hi! I’m Christine Dufrayer, and I go by my Hawaiian name Kukui. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist. Can you think of a time you really felt heard, understood, and supported? That is my goal in the work I do with the wonderful individuals and families I partner with. My approach I have three main approaches in my therapy tool belt—Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy interventions, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Understanding how the ways we think, feel, and act are interconnected can be an important aspect of growth, and making adjustments can help free up that stuck feeling. Children use play to connect with others, organize their experiences, and communicate, so play therapy interventions are indispensable. ERP is a treatment approach that helps many individuals with OCD reduce stuck patterns. My focus Maybe you’re a parent or caregiver trying to navigate difficult child behaviors. Maybe you or a loved one have neurodivergence and are trying to find a new “normal.” Maybe you think you have OCD and are tired of doing the same things over and over. I’d love to be part of your journey as you navigate these areas of life. My communication style You can expect our work to be playful and fun as well as supportive, informative, and challenging. My journey to mental healthcare Being a small part of your story of growth is the best part of this calling called therapy. My hope is to impart tools and skills that work me out of a job—that is, you become your own best therapist. My goals for you I do my best to meet clients where they’re at. Goal setting is collaborative, and treatment is tailored to you and your needs. My first session with you Getting to know you and what is bringing you (and your child or loved one) to therapy is a primary focus of the first session. We also go over general information about therapy, answer your questions, and I will begin working with you.
