“Dr Pemberton has been my therapist for over ten years now. She has consistently balanced compassion and empathy with calling me on my negative biases and patterns. She often empowers me with tools and resources to access on my own, and reminds me of the positive steps I‚Äôve taken when I tend to forget or minimize them. I‚Äôve greatly appreciated her support in both large emotional events, and the more minor ups and downs of day-to-day life, which is why I followed her in her transition to Rula.”

Getting to know Christine Pemberton

Hi there, I'm Christine! My name is Christine Pemberton and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in San Diego, California I am working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults ranging in age from 20 years old into their 90s and specialize in anxiety/panic/stress, depression, and trauma using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness-based Therapy Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as I find that these modalities work well together to help clients attain insight and awareness into their minds, body, and emotions. This helps me to understand the origins of their concerns and the thoughts contributing to the emotions and behaviors that may be driving their distress and symptoms. Then work on helping clients learn how to attend to their own needs with love, acceptance, and self-compassion. My focus My client focus is adults, specifically as it relates to difficulties coping with life transitions, developmental life stages, and phase of life issues regarding relationships, occupation, academic, financial, losses, and family, and often takes the form of anxiety, depression, and stress, and sometimes physical illness. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and build coping skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and to process and manage these difficult life events. My communication style My communication style is warm, non-judgmental, assertive, gentle, direct, honest, open, authentic, compassionate and clear. I want to cultivate an environment of safety and trust where my clients can feel comfortable talking with me about whatever is important to them.
