Hi there, I'm Corrie! My name is Corrie Alvarez, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. I help clients develop and integrate new patterns into their lives that bring them out of crisis, enhance their lives, and help them transition into their new normal. I encourage clients to focus on what they can control, activate in positive ways, and problem solve. My approach I have over 20 years of experience with cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and evidence-based therapies. I provide EMDR. I'm chronically optimistic and like to integrate humor and fun into sessions. For those interested, I can weave my Christian faith and background into sessions as well. My focus I'm comfortable working with individuals, all types of families and couples, children, and teens. Common issues include anxiety, depression, mood and personality disorders, family conflict/dynamics, stress, career issues, parenting, behavior problems, identity issues including LGBTQ+ populations, PTSD, ADHD, and addictions. My communication style I am an employee of my clients, and my job is to eventually make myself no longer needed. I am direct but gentle, always striving to be kind. Maintaining professionalism is important as I help clients navigate their lives more successfully and comfortably. My journey to mental healthcare I've always found people and interpersonal dynamics profoundly interesting. I felt compelled to help as best I could. I truly appreciate every counseling role I've had. It is a privilege I do not take for granted. My goals for you I help clients develop treatment plans that best suit their needs. Clients often revise their goals as they progress through therapy. I'm comfortable with the twists and turns of therapy.
