Getting to know Danielle Sfeir Mitzel
Hi there! My name is Dani, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University. I have extensive experience working with teens, young adults, adults, couples, and families, with a special interest in treating eating disorders, anxiety, depression, suicidality, self-harm, emotion dysregulation, and trauma.
My approach
I have specialized training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and TF-CBT. I also incorporate elements of attachment theory and work to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore the thoughts, concerns, behaviors, and feelings causing distress.
My focus
I enjoy working with individuals ages 10 and up. My areas of passion include eating disorders, trauma, intense emotions, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, and individuals who may present with borderline personality disorder traits. I believe the most important part of therapy is building strong relationships by creating a safe space for deep conversation, providing understanding and compassion, and using evidence-based treatments to help clients reach their goals.
My communication style
I strive to create a nurturing and empathic environment and often use humor when appropriate to help clients feel comfortable. I can also be direct when needed. I want you to feel like you can talk about anything without judgment but with care, while also helping you dig deeper into the issues that brought you to therapy. My goal is to help you grow by balancing acceptance and change in the therapy room.
