Getting to know David Gutierrez

Hello, I am David Gutierrez, LMFT. I am a bilingual Spanish/English Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona Global Campus. I have worked in various clinical settings, including with torture survivors at Survivors of Torture International, outpatient clinics, inpatient, and residential settings. With over 9 years of experience, I provide high-quality mental health services. I am also a US Navy veteran and have experience working with veterans dealing with trauma, addictions, and other mental health issues. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, camping, cooking, restoring classic cars, and taking road trips. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio, and I look forward to meeting you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe building trust and rapport are essential during therapy. I am passionate about the services that I provide. I understand that the main factor that will help you in therapy is the therapeutic alliance between you and me. I have experience helping trauma survivors heal their trauma, learn coping skills, increase functioning and gain hope for their future. My approach is person-centered, compassionate, empathic and motivated to help you achieve your goals. I have experience working with PTSD, relational issues, life-transition, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, self-esteem issues and co-occurring disorders.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
