Getting to know Denise Berkes Sanchez
You might be in a very dark, sad, and lonely place, or you may be feeling intense anxiety and sometimes even panic. Perhaps you are dealing with a lot of pain and uncertainty due to illness or disability. Right now, you're at the point of knowing that something has to change-you're ready, but you just don't know how to do it on your own.
You want to feel better. You just want to be yourself again, maybe a different or better version of yourself. As your therapist, I can be a flashlight as you walk through this shadowy path that you find yourself on right now.
Whether I use solution-focused therapy, DBT, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, trauma-informed CBT, Emotionally Focused couples therapy, or a mix, what matters most is the safe environment we will create so that you can share openly and allow yourself to be vulnerable with someone who will truly listen, support, and empower you as you create the best version of yourself possible.
I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University and earned my Bachelor's degree from California State University, Sacramento. My education and training equip me to guide you with empathy and expertise on your journey toward healing and growth.
What should a new client know about working with you?
During our first session we meet and I ask questions about you and your history. I’ll find out about what the current struggle is and how it began (sometimes we may not know and that’s ok too). This is also typically the first time we create the goals you want to work on in therapy. The first session doesn’t always feel like a typical therapy session however, I always leave my clients with some type of tool that they can use throughout the week to help them calm themselves during times of stress or anxiety or even depression.
It’s in our following sessions that we get to work on the issues and the goals that we created in our first session. Throughout therapy I will continuously provide different tools and techniques that you will be able to use far beyond the time you are in therapy.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
