My goal as a therapist is to provide a warm and safe place where life's challenges can be worked through. I will guide this process as a neutral party, but the journey is all yours. My focus Struggling with a phase of life, transition, anxiety, depression, or difficulties with school or relationships? Growing up and parenting are not always easy, and I can provide a neutral, safe space to work through some of these challenges. I have also spent time supporting older adults as they navigate retirement and aging. My approach I use a client-centered approach based on individual strengths & needs, as everyone has a unique story. After we identify what you want to focus on, we will discuss options and find the approach that will best fit your needs and goals. My communication style I believe it is important to listen first, understand, and then provide feedback or suggestions. My office is a non-judgmental, safe place to reflect on your experiences in a new way. Kids often communicate best through play, art, games, and stories, so that we will use those in the process as well. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a therapist started with challenges I felt in school growing up. I worked with youth in group homes and in schools before attending graduate school. I continue to enjoy witnessing healing from trauma, finding a place in school, understanding challenges and overcoming them and the resilience in people to adapt and heal. My goals for you I see my role as a guide in the therapy process. Together, we will set goals that work for you and your family and adjust them as needed. I will set goals with kids as we work 1:1, as well as with parents, so they can support their children at home. Our first session The first few sessions are a chance for us to get to know one another. It is perfectly normal to feel nervous; therapy is a process.
