Hi there, I'm Denise! Hello and Welcome! I’m Dr. Denise Garcia, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT138425) and a Doctor of Psychology specializing in Educational Psychology. First, thank you for taking this first step in your healing journey with me. Life is incredibly complex, and taking this first step is a big deal. My expertise lies in complex presentations of trauma as it relates to early childhood experiences. Do you feel overwhelmed with your young child or are pregnant and thinking of what to do when your baby arrives? Do you feel like the information on parenting needs to be more consistent and more accessible to follow? My approach I use CBT tools and theory, psychodynamic approaches, and EMDR (which combines both CBT and psychodynamic approaches). My focus Parents with children aged birth to six years old. Soon-to-be parents are overwhelmed about becoming parents. Couples experiencing mental health and relationship issues about parenting and baby’s arrival. Adults who have experienced early childhood trauma of any kind- complex and single events. My communication style I am warm and compassionate in my communication. I approach things gently and will not pressure you. I will work collaboratively with you and bring out your strengths. My journey to mental healthcare I've unknowingly been developing my passion for this dream career. I often wondered, "What would it be? Who would I work with? What service would I provide?" Then my daughter was born, and I became obsessed with all things related to child-rearing practices. That led me to intentional/conscious/respectful parenting. Using my knowledge from years of clinical experience and training, I created an outline for my signature parenting program. I became a therapist in 2015 after receiving a master's in Marriage and family therapy.
