DeShala Hunt, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm DeShala! I am DeShala Hunt, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from The University of Alabama. I am a holistic, integrative therapist who uses faith-based biblical principles to assist clients in healing from trauma. I focus on treating couples, families, and their children to heal and overcome traumatic experiences. My approach Therapy begins with a bio-psycho-social assessment that considers each client's personality type. Throughout treatment, clients can expect to use a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic approach to further assess their past relationships, subjective trauma (if applicable), and core beliefs. I believe in treating the whole person: body, mind, and spirit by including biblical principles that complement each evidence-based modality. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), faith-based counseling, Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed interventions, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and more! My focus I am searching for clients who are interested in holistic care with biblical principles that treat the whole client: body, mind, and spirit. Clients who are the first in their families to break generational curses and overcome church hurt, spiritual difficulties, and identity crises are welcomed. In addition, I enjoy working with clients who have relationship difficulties and trauma, and those who struggle with parenting due to attachment difficulties. I specialize in treating couples recovering from substance use/abuse and trauma, couples seeking to overcome infidelity, and all other relationship issues within a couple or marriage, including premarital counseling. I also specialize in treating depression, anxiety, anger management, church-related trauma, recovery from narcissistic abuse, ADHD, women's issues, and other childhood trauma.
