Elizabeth Domingos-Shepard, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hello, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience in mental health. I hold a Master's in Counseling from California State University, East Bay. I work with clients facing a range of issues, including anxiety, relationship concerns, and self-esteem challenges. My specialization lies in trauma and attachment, particularly trauma related to social injustices and generational experiences. My approach I believe that considering each individual's culture is essential in therapy. I integrate concepts of intersectionality into my work, recognizing the unique identities and experiences clients bring. I use an eclectic approach, tailoring interventions to each person's needs. My methods include Trauma-Informed Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other trauma-focused techniques. My focus While I have experience working with children and adolescents, I currently focus primarily on adult clients. I serve individuals from diverse backgrounds, including multicultural communities, immigrants, and those affected by social injustices. As a child of immigrant parents, I understand the challenges faced by first-generation Americans and immigrant families. My communication style I am a transparent therapist who addresses clients' concerns with sensitivity and honesty. I view the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of effective treatment. I strive to build a safe, collaborative space where I bring my expertise, and clients are recognized as the experts of their own experiences. My journey to mental healthcare I began my career in the media and entertainment industry but soon realized my true calling was to contribute positively to others' lives. Growing up in an immigrant family, I developed a strong interest in social justice and equality, which ultimately led me to psychology. These values continue to inspire and guide my work as a psychotherapist.
