Getting to know Elizabeth Waissman

Hi there, I'm Elizabeth! My name is Elizabeth (Liz) Waissman, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I earned my Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. Over the last 20 years, I have worked as a clinician in many different settings, supporting both individuals and couples. I have helped people facing a variety of personal challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, grief and loss, workplace issues, coping with change, relationship difficulties, and aging concerns. My approach to therapy is client-centered and solution-focused-in other words, we start where you are, right now. My experience has taught me that we all face challenges, and within those challenges lie opportunities to better understand ourselves. By increasing self-awareness and becoming more comfortable with who you are-perhaps by exploring your values and what's truly important to you-we can take small next steps to adapt and change, depending on what life presents. Sometimes, therapy is about growing in awareness and understanding, learning acceptance, and letting go of who you think you're supposed to be to embrace who you really are. None of us are perfect, but we can always strive to be our best selves. I recognize the courage it takes to come to therapy and say, ?I need help understanding myself better.? Together, we will set realistic goals to bring about healing, empower hopefulness, and create greater purpose in your life. I like to view therapy through a spiritual lens that acknowledges we are all connected by a power greater than ourselves, a connection grounded in compassion. Let's work together to bring balance, mindfulness, and awareness into your life. My style is compassionate and aims to facilitate forgiveness in all areas of life. I believe it is especially important to express unconditional positive regard toward all people and, above all, to maintain a non-judgmental stance.
