Hi! I am Esther Castillo, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I take pleasure in working with individuals who are seeking to overcome major obstacles to obtain contentment. My emphasis has been working with individuals and their families to overcome trauma, addiction, and mental health stigma so they can reach their full potential. I am fluent in Spanish!
My approach
My therapeutic approach includes CBT, DBT, Solution-focused therapy, Trauma-focused CBT, Trauma-informed care, Family, and Couple therapy.
My focus
I prefer working with clients from a remote setting but enjoy working with all individuals regardless of race, gender, diagnosis, cultural, or religious beliefs.
My communication style
I take a client-centered approach and understand the importance of being ready for change. True change comes from within, and I pride myself on helping my clients reach their full potential.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been motivated and attracted to helping others overcome the challenges and obstacles that life throws at us. I began my journey as a certified substance use counselor and earned my Master's in Marriage, Child, and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix. I then worked toward obtaining my license as a Marriage, Child, and Family Therapist. I wouldn't work in any other field, as it has been my true passion and honor to help individuals and families reach their full potential.
My goals for you
I strive to provide a safe place where clients can share their struggles, obstacles, and challenges that hinder them from achieving their goals. It's also important for me to challenge my clients-but only in the direction they want to be headed. I use a client-centered and collaborative approach to goal-setting.

Esther is the best therapist ever. I came to her with crippiling anxiety and a heavy load on my shoulders; now thanks to her, I feel like I am finally progressing in my healing process. She has taught me so many ways to deal with my anxiety, helps me understand my feelings and behaviors, and when I am losing my footing, she brings me back to reality. I am really grateful for Esther and the kindness and support she has provided in my darkest times.
