Grief, whether from the death of a loved one, divorce, illness, or other life transition, can feel overwhelming. My goal is to help you learn the tools to cope with the pain and distress that comes from loss, restore your capacity for well-being, and see the possibilities for a promising future. My approach My approach to grief therapy helps clients understand the emotional, physical, and cognitive aspects of their grief, equipping them with tools to navigate their unique journey and reintegrate their grief into a meaningful life. My focus I work with adults of all ages who are experiencing the emotional, psychological, and behavioral distress that can arise from loss and grief. Whether your grief arises from the death of a loved one or a major life transition such as job changes, divorce, illness, or reproductive trauma, I can help you restore balance and pursue a meaningful life. My communication style I offer a safe space, validating feelings without criticism. I am an active listener, balancing gentle support with clear, goal-oriented feedback or interpretations. I often ask open-ended questions to explore patterns and insights. I strongly encourage clients to learn to be curious about their emotions and experience them without judgment. My journey to mental healthcare I left a decades-long career as a lawyer to pursue work in palliative care and hospice following the death of a close friend. I was the inpatient palliative care coordinator at Boulder Community Health before transitioning to a community therapist and a hospice grief counselor. I now provide individual and group therapy to people who are grieving. My goals for you Every grief journey is unique, and no one grieves in the same way. As such, I work with my clients to understand their individual needs and challenges and, together, we develop a plan that ensures they are supported throughout the grief process, armed with the understanding and tools to integrate their grief into their lives.
