There are many possible pathways to creating positive change in one’s life and getting started with therapy is an important and sometimes challenging step on that path. We create new neural pathways in our brains in response to our life experiences every day. These pathways are how we adapt and learn new skills, heal, and grow. I aim to meet you where you are in that process, create a safe space for positive growth and a provide a level of supportive therapy tailored to you and/or your family. If your child is experiencing changes in their behavior, mood, functioning at home/school or you're having parenting challenges I'm here to help. Reach out and I will reach back. My approach I emphasize a strengths-based and solution focused approach to addressing your concerns. Whether through play, art, sandtray, books, or other experiential modalities we will work together as a team to develop a plan to help you and/or your child develop skills and abilities to best support everyone's needs. I use practices supported by research such as EMDR, Filial Therapy, Child Centered Play Therapy, Child Parent Psychotherapy, Incredible Years Child & Parenting Programs, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. My focus I believe in people's ability to persevere, grow, change and overcome. I see evidence of this resilience every day in the remarkable children and families with whom I work. I aim to create a safe environment to provide an effective level of support so you or your child can feel empowered to achieve realistic goals for improving thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and overall functioning at home, school or in the community. I involve parents in whatever capacity they are willing and able so parents can also learn how to incorporate strategies, activities and interventions into their home. Using this approach, your child will have more opportunities to practice their skills and develop their abilities more effectively.
