Hi there, I'm Heather! Hi! I'm Heather Gulick, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and completed specializations in Child and Family Studies during my education and my clinical training. In current psychotherapy with teenagers and adults, I utilize this training to focus on how early attachment relationships greatly influence relationship connection and outcomes, identity formation, mood, and self-esteem. My approach My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic and attachment-based. I seek to truly get to know you, as well as how your past experiences and childhood history are affecting you and your current relationships. I strive to understand how you as a unique individual witness your lived truth and help you objectively reflect on your experiences so that we can collaboratively guide you to uncover the fulfillment you seek in your life. My focus I focus my exploration on a person's individual needs and relationships to help them find emotional improvement. My experience is in treating patients with anxiety, depression, family/parent conflict, postpartum transition, grief/loss, and relational problems. People come to see me when their ability to cope with life's stresses and have meaningful interpersonal relationships is impacted. My communication style In working with clients I am empathetic, supportive, warm, inquisitive, open-minded, direct, and curious. I strive to listen and reflect first. Interpret and help second. Together we will build rapport and an alliance as we create a path for healing. My journey to mental healthcare As a child and adolescent, I spent many years unhappy and lacking understanding of why. I lacked the tools to improve my situation at the time, but I believe through reflection, insight, and a deeper understanding of ourselves we can pave the path to our own happiness.
