Getting to know Heather Hopkins

Hi there, I'm Heather! Hello! I'm Heather Hopkins, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from California State University, San Bernardino. My focus as a therapist is to meet you where you're at and help you get to where you want to be. I use a client-centered approach to ensure you feel comfortable, included, and empowered in your therapy experience. My approach I have been trained in many therapeutic modalities; however, I tend to utilize a strengths-based approach while incorporating mindfulness techniques and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to help challenge unhelpful thoughts. My focus I have had the opportunity to work with populations throughout the lifespan, from school-aged children to older adults. The majority of my experience is with adolescents/teens and adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, addiction, familial/relationship issues, self-esteem issues, life transitions, behavioral issues, trauma, anger management, and stress management. My communication style My priority as a therapist is to ensure clients feel comfortable, understood, and safe throughout the therapeutic process. It can be very difficult to begin therapy, and I focus on providing an empathetic and respectful space while also having a direct and clear communication style to ensure we are on the same page. My journey to mental healthcare I knew I wanted to be a therapist since I was a teenager. I have spent the majority of my career in public mental health, working with children, teens, families, and adults. It is my passion to help others navigate any bumps in the road and find joy and meaning along the way. My goals for you My goal is for you to gain understanding, insight, and effective coping skills to begin making positive changes to overcome the challenges you are currently facing. I will help provide you with tools and coping skills to feel empowered to move forward in your journey.

Heather has been so helpful in my journey. I chose Heather as I wanted someone who I felt like could relate to me, shared similar ideals and someone close in age. She truly listens to me and allows me to share all of my thoughts and feelings. She shows me different perspectives of what I share and allows me to notice things that I don’t often notice. I appreciate that she challenges my thoughts and shares her insight. I am so thankful to Heather!
