Ivan Chan, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Ivan Chan, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. I use a Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) approach, which means I tailor your therapy based on what works best for you. I specialize in grief, anxiety, depression, culture, spirituality, sexuality, and relationship issues. My approach I use the FIT approach to therapy, allowing me to adapt based on what my clients tell me they need. I stay current with the latest evidence-based research and am trained in Humanistic, Existential, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution-Focused Brief therapies. My focus I work with adults and seniors dealing with relationship conflicts, transitions, grief, anxiety, depression, cultural issues, and sexuality. My communication style I prefer to provide therapy in a relaxed and conversational manner, like two friends talking. I believe therapy, though it may address painful topics, does not have to be painful itself and can be an enjoyable and uplifting experience. My journey to therapy I became a psychotherapist because I was seeking a way out of my own suffering and wanted to help others find their way out of theirs. My goals for you I set goals with my clients when this is important to them, so we can know if we have achieved what we wanted in our work together. My clients decide what measures success for them, and we review regularly to track our progress.
