James Anderson, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm James! Hello, my name is Jim Anderson and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW #125093). I thank you for considering me to accompany you on your journey. After serving in the U.S. Army for 8-years I obtained my Master of Social Work degree in 2004 and have been serving in the helping professions for over 20 years now. My approach I am trained from a trauma-informed approach and draw elements from several therapeutic interventions including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, task-centered, acceptance and commitment, mindfulness, and solution-focused. My focus My experience in community mental health allowed me to work with youth, adults, seniors, and veterans. My communication style I like to create an environment centered around safety, empathy, and compassion. A full range of emotions is encouraged where we can do everything from laugh to celebrate or grieve. My journey to mental healthcare I have long had a drive to want to help others and in 2002 I read a job posting for a social services position. I had not breathed a word about this to another but when discussing a desire to change careers a family member suggested, “Have you ever considered a career in social work?” From this conversation I felt the universe had provided clarity and 20 years later I am still passionate about this work and love being able to assist others on their own journey of discovery. My goals for you Goalsetting is a collaborative process with your valued input helping drive the process. My first session with you In our first session, we will build rapport, explore concerns, and begin to develop an intervention plan.
