James Roberts, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm James! I provide warm, practical therapy for late adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, emotional regulation, life transitions, problematic screen use, and addiction-related concerns. My goal is to help clients feel understood while also building realistic tools for change. My focus I work with late adolescents and adults who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, angry, anxious, depressed, or unsure how to move forward. I support clients by helping them better understand what is getting in the way and develop practical tools to manage symptoms and improve daily life. My approach My approach is collaborative, supportive, and practical. I often use CBT and Solution-Focused strategies to help clients understand patterns, build coping skills, and take realistic steps toward meaningful change. My communication style My communication style is warm, direct, respectful, and down-to-earth. I try to create a space where clients feel accepted and understood, while also being supported in looking honestly at patterns and choices that may be affecting their lives. My journey to mental healthcare My drive to become an LMFT began when I started seeing an LMFT of my own back in early 2000's. The change he made in my life was indescribable, and I wanted to be that person to help make that change in other people's lives. My goals for you I help clients clarify what they want to change, identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and break goals into realistic steps. We work together to build coping skills, track progress, and adjust the plan as needed. Our first session The first session is focused on getting to know you, what brings you to therapy, and what you hope to work on. I ask questions about your current concerns, history, strengths, and goals so we can begin developing a plan that feels useful and realistic.
