Jamie Biggs, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Jamie! Are you looking for a safe space to process your pain? My name is Jamie Biggs, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from California State University, Northridge. I specialize in helping people work through the intense emotions and intrusive thoughts that can keep them from moving forward after experiencing significant loss or trauma. Whether you're grieving a recent death or struggling with trauma from the past, healing is possible. My approach I'm trained in a wide variety of evidence-based techniques (EMDR, CBT, SFBT, ACT, etc.), but honestly, it's usually my patience, compassion, and ability to bear witness to people's pain that helps the most. I combine the psychodynamic approach (your childhood matters!) with more modern solution-focused modalities to get you feeling better and moving forward. My focus I love supporting LGBTQ+ people through their healing journey. I specialize in grief, loss, and trauma and work well with people who are transitioning and/or exploring their gender identity. My communication style I am a calm, caring, and compassionate human being who loves to listen more than talk. I don't give advice, but I'll ask the right questions to help you make your own decisions. I make people feel seen, heard, and valid, providing a safe space for healing. My journey to mental healthcare I spent a decade working in homeless services and quickly noticed a common thread linking everyone together: grief. Everyone was grieving. How people dealt with that grief varied greatly, but underneath it all, they had experienced significant loss that derailed them. This led me to focus on helping people heal and get back on track. I learned how to listen and normalize the grief process, and I feel beyond honored to do this work daily. My goals for you It's important to set goals in therapy to guide our sessions and help you see your own progress.
