Jamila Banks, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Jamila! I am a California licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 13 years of experience in the mental health field. I graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a BA in Political Science and Psychology and earned my master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of La Verne in 2011. I began my career in 2010 at an Addiction & Treatment crisis center, working with adults facing various addictions and mental health disorders. Since then, I have worked in diverse settings, including group homes, mental health hospitals, and inpatient/outpatient centers, providing both individual and group therapy. In 2010, I also served as a case manager for a California regional center, working closely with children and adults diagnosed with intellectual disabilities such as Autism, as well as mental health disorders like Anxiety. I have experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of parents, teachers, social workers, and other practitioners to develop comprehensive care plans. I am a wife and mother of four, and I live my life in service through community advocacy, impact, and philanthropy. Outside of my professional and community work, I enjoy traveling, learning, making memories, exercising (gym, yoga, hiking), reading, meditating, crystal healing, trying new foods, and spending quality time with friends and family. My approach I take a collaborative, holistic approach to therapy, addressing the full needs of my clients with empathy and a client-centered, goal-oriented, solution-focused style. The treatment modalities I use include, but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Emotion-Focused Therapy.
